Easy background filler and waves! Free motion quilting tutorial from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

In today’s video I show you how I quilted Undulation, our latest Stashin’ with Stephanie quilt pattern.

The quilting is really stunning and helped separate the fat quarter prints from the background, but there’s absolutely nothing complicated about the quilting designs. It just looks really amazing when you combine some simple elements.

You get to see a quilting play-by-play as I talk through what I am doing and why as you see me quilt in real time on a Go Pro camera.

I used a series of wavy lines in the background, working my way from the block ...

Something new! from Wendy's Quilts and More

Yes, finally I have something new to report.

I've made a start on a pattern from Willyne Hammerstein's Millefiori Quilts Book 4.

The pattern is called "Bont en Blauw", which translates to English as "Black and Blue" - which is a bit unfortunate because that brings up disturbing images in most peoples minds.  So I'm going to come up with a different name for my happy little quilt.

There are only 2 shapes in the pattern, but there are lots of opportunities to play with colour and pattern.

When I want to plan a quilt, I just use ...

How to Make a Jelly Roll Rug! Get it Super Flat without Ironing from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

A couple years ago we put out one of the first video tutorials on how to make a jelly roll rug and you guys went crazy for it. It has nearly 225,000 views and is one of our most popular videos of all time.

But we felt it was time for an update. First, you all HATED the music in the background. So this video only has music when I am just sewing and not when I am talking.

Second, I had some new tools to try out from Purple Hobbies to see if it would make the process ...

Modern Bargello Quilt! Fat Quarter Friendly, super fast and easy! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

My second book “Fat Quarter Workshop” is officially here! If you pre-ordered, be on the lookout for a shipping notification this week. I’ve signed about two-thirds of the books and we’re in the process of getting them shipped out!

I’ve also managed to find a fabulous collection of fabric that captures the spirit of the original version of Frequency, our most popular Stashin’ with Stephanie pattern ever that starts off the book. So we’ve brought back quilt kits in the fabulous Silverstone by by Vanessa Lillrose and Linda Fitch for Robert Kaufman Fabrics.

The fabric has ...

Cotton + Steel Rayon Separates from Tea Rose Home

I bought this beautiful Rayon Challis "In Bloom" by Cotton + Steel a while back. this Rayon is the perfect weight and very smooth to the touch. It is a little different choice of fabric than my usual pick from solid or floral, but when I saw it I immediately fell in love with the design. After going back and forth between sewing a dress or separates, I decided to go with separates! For the pattern, I used Simplicity 8910 dress pattern from my previous post for the top but extended the length and made a blouse. For the skirt, I ...

Clutch Sewing Tutorial Perfect for Handmade Holiday Gifts! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

For our second make of Christmas we are bringing back the Brooke Wristlet tutorial featuring the pattern by Sew Many Creations.

This is the first bag pattern tutorial we introduced you to because it is VERY easy. Even if you have never made a bag before, you can get great results with this pattern.

There are only five pieces of fabric, a zipper and a swivel hook, which is just about as basic as you can get with a bag. And we’ve made it even easier for you by making up several kits using Laurel Burch Feline Frolic.

You ...

Carnival Quilt from Sew Some Sunshine

Long time, no finish...but here's a nice one!  I started this quilt in January 2018 and finished up this past fall and then waited to gift it this past December.  This is the Carnival Quilt and it was designed by Ashely from Film in the Fridge.  She has a few versions of this quilt on her website with different fabrics.  This one was a kit that used Lotta Jansdotter prints.  I love the combination of prints and solids in this quilt.

I had the quilt machine quilted by Allison at AB Quilting Studio.  I really like the geometric ...
